STUDENTS and staff from Okehampton College teamed up on Saturday to raise money for deprived orphans in Bulgaria.
Nine students and head of sixth form Mr Sproates washed around 60 cars at Mole Avon to raise funds for a trip giving students the chance to work with orphans in Bulgaria next July.
The trip will tie in with the work done by the House of Rachel charity.
It will be the third year that the college have taken part in such a trip, with the purpose to give orphans a week of structured play and activities.
The trip also provides a tremendous opportunity for college students to develop their own skills, experience new situations and touch the lives of youngsters less fortunate than themselves.
The House of Rachel charity has co-ordinated a number of projects at orphanages in Bulgaria, including the delivery of a new mini-bus and car, fixing dilapidated windows and running workshops in sports, crafts and music.
Students and staff expressed thanks to Mole Avon for their kind support of the event, which raised £305.
