Duchy Knockout Cup Saltash 3 Gunnislake 0 LOWER division Saltash were deserved winners against their premier division opponents. The youthful hosts, who look set to rapidly climb the Duchy League ladder, started the better and produced several good passing moves. By the turnaround Saltash had established a two-goal lead. Gunnislake were also fielding a young side with eight players under 21 in the starting line up as several more experienced players were unavailable. The visitors improved in the second half but were not able to threaten the Ashes goal as chances at either end were few and far between. Three main pieces of action occurred in the second period. Firstly, visiting keeper Mark Southcott made an excellent double save before team-mate Stuart Wakenshaw struck a post with a well taken free kick. The third incident saw the home side grab their third goal with a low eight-yard drive after Gunnislake failed to clear from a corner. St Minver visit Gunnislake this Saturday for a league fixture with a 2.30pm kick-off.
