AN article last week referring to the owners of Ashbury Station as Alan and Tracy Lear was incorrect.
The station is actually jointly owned by Gerald Smallacombe and his daughter Geraldine Walter and the latter lives in the converted station house with her grandmother.
Alan and Tracy Lear bought the the old goods shed and freight yard 18 months ago and are planning to site a railway carriage on the siding for which they have gained planning permission.
Mr Smallacombe said his mother, Olive, had been a resident at Ashbury Station for 64 years, having been married to the signalman when the station was open. He said he had no intention of selling the property.
Meanwhile Mr and Mrs Lear, whose address is Broad Ash, have been requested to apply for retrospective planning permission for a 102 metres of train track.
A spokesman for West Devon Borough Council said when consent was granted to site a carriage on the land, this included a small piece of track to stand it on, not a track amounting to over 100 metres.
