POLICE are warning people to secure doors and windows during the warm weather, following a number of burglaries. Burglars entered a home in Princetown late in the evening last Thursday via an unlocked door. They searched the house and stole a substantial amount of money. Burglars also entered a maisonette on the weekend of June 24 and 25 through an open window of the first floor and stole a bottle of whiskey. During the same weekend a home in Newton Abbot was burgled when suspects scaled a tall garden wall before getting into an open kitchen door and stealing a number of credit cards. After these burglaries police issued a reminder to people that doors and windows should be kept secure during the hot weather, even if at home. Police said just by locking doors and windows, even if homes are not on the ground floor or behind garden walls, the public can help prevent themselves from becoming the next burglary victim.
