WALKHAMPTON Arts and Crafts reaches its 25th anniversary this year and its annual show starts today (Thursday) at the memorial hall, and runs until September 6.

Michael D'Oyley who has been involved in the organisation of the society for many years has now decided to pass the gauntlet on to others. Michael's achievements, dedication, attention to detail and enthusiasm will be greatly missed said organisers.

His efforts have resulted in considerable reinvestment back into local community projects and villagers are indebted to him for his support.

After this event, Chris Morley and Paul Adcock hope to maintain the tradition of putting on this colourful and enjoyable exhibition. Two local and respected artists will be giving demonstrations during the exhibition.

On the Saturday morning, Richard Woodgate will demonstrate watercolour techniques in his familiar style around the theme of Dartmoor.

During the Sunday lunchtime and into the afternoon, Alan Kingwell will paint a seascape in oils, a subject for which he is well known.

Works from other well known and not so well known local artists in varied mediums will be on view together with a broad selection of craft items. All are welcome. Opening times are between 10am and 7pm on Thursday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.
