A HUGE variety of arts and crafts will be going on display in Princetown this summer, during the Dartmoor Arts and Crafts Show. The exhibition in August will feature around 40 arts and crafts, including paintings, lacemaking, pottery, scrimshaw, wood turning, jewellery, weaving and spinning, parchment craft, dying, embroidery, stained glass and costume displays, plus many more. Special displays will feature works by City and Guilds students for their final assessments and the Goosey Quilters 2006 exhibition quilts. In addition, there will be a display of items made by inmates from Dartmoor Prison, under the prison?s arts and crafts incentive scheme. Each day, there will be experts in attendance, who will be on hand to discuss their crafts, and opportunities for visitors to try their hand at new skills on many of the stands. A spokesman for the Dartmoor Arts and Crafts Show said: ?After a year when the original Dartmoor Show did not take place, the new event is based on the success of the past, with emphasis on the broad coverage of textile and other hobby crafts now enjoyed by millions of people nationwide. ?The event is now sponsored by Workbox Magazine, the magazine for all textile artists.? Dartmoor Arts and Crafts takes place at Princetown Primary School between August 10 and 19. Admission will be £2.50 for adults, £1 for accompanied children under the age of 16. Refreshments will be available throughout the event ? parking is free and there is disabled access to all areas of the exhibition.
