AN ARTS and crafts exhibition inspired by the River Lynher is being held at Stoke Climsland on May 19 to raise money for the Cavitron Fund at Derriford Hospital. A small group of friends from Stoke Climsland have produced paintings, pottery, photography, silk painting, natural dyeing, sculptures, poetry, songs, story telling and needlecraft. The project started on a wet October day with a walk from Five Lanes to the Halvana Plantation to try and find the source of the River Lynher. Group member Julie McIntosh has been receiving ongoing treatment at Derriford Hospital for a brain tumour so it was decided to hold an exhibition to raise money for the Cavitron Fund to help buy a mobile CT scanner. The event is being held at Stoke Climsland Parish Hall from 10am to 4pm. There will be a sale of arts and crafts and refreshments will be served during the day. All monies taken on the day will go directly to the Cavitron Fund. The exhibition is being supported by various businesses which have a connection with the River Lynher, including the Lynher Dairies Cheese Company, Lynher Boatyard at Polbathick, and the Manor Inn at Rilla Mill.
