THE Tavistock launch of Devon Art Works was held last Friday on the town?s Bedford Square. Passers-by were invited to take a booklet on the Devon Art Works Open Studios event, witness some of the art work on show and see the mini museum of Dartmoor. The mini museum was inside a shed designed by Tanya Morel, from Oddbodies, along with a chair and a desk. Participants were invited to step inside the shed and write down their own stories or thoughts on what they have experienced on Dartmoor. A total of 37 artists across West Devon are participating in this year?s open studios event, which runs until September 23. Guides detailing studios taking part and their location and opening times are available from tourist centres and libraries. Road signs will assist in the following of the trail. Artist trails with more detailed maps will also be available from cafes, galleries and other similar locations. The launch, funded by West Devon Borough Council, was organised by two local representatives for the West Devon artists for the open studios event ? Simon de Groot and Tamsin Radford.
