ART students in the fourth and fifth form at Kelly College (pictured above) travelled to London to visit the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Tate Modern.

The first stop was the V and A Museum. The students took particular interest in the photography exhibition 'Light From the Middle East'. This work, which had a range of documentary style pictures and digitally manipulated compositions, encouraged discussion and questioning.

They also visited the architecture, costume and jewellery areas, adding to their experience and knowledge of arts and crafts from around the world. They sketched and took notes throughout, which have since been researched and will later be used in class work.

Having toured the V and A, the students headed to South Bank to visit the Tate Modern. Here, they saw the new Roy Lichtenstein exhibition.

The students created a sketchbook of detailed studies, exploring his use of strong lines and bold primary colours.
