OKEHAMPTON Squash Club were away to Exeter Golf and Country Club last week and went down three matches to two after a great start.
Steve Yeo, two games up, could not contain his opponent, eventually losing three games to two. Robert Barkwell, also leading two games to one, again went down 3-2.
Donald Rooke, ahead at three, struggled to hold onto his lead. His opponent dug in and came from behind to win 3-1.
It was up to the top two players, Martin Leyton and Arnie Searle.
Both had long matches, Martin coming through to defeat his opponent 3-1 with some long sustained rallies but just too strong for his opponent.
Arnie, playing his best match of the season, had an excellent game with some long arduous rallies at 2-2.
It was a question of who was going to tire first. Arnie played a consistent fifth game to take the match 3-2 and give Okehampton ten points.
