THE Salvation Army in Tavistock is appealing for people to donate toys to enable them to provide toys to children whose families cannot afford to give them much this Christmas.

Last year the Salvation Army were able to provide for 56 children and feel there could be many more that need help.

Major Dawn McGarvey said: 'Through my involvement with the Foodbank, I know that many families are struggling week by week and the extra expense of Christmas is overwhelming.'

To help the Salvation Army with its toy appeal, St Eustachius Church is holding a toy service on Sunday, December 1 at 9.45am. New, unwrapped toys would be gratefully received. Unfortunately second hand toys and cuddly toys cannot be taken.

The Salvation Army is also partnering with Kaleidoscope Toys in Brook Street. The shop will hold a list of suggested toys and keep donated toys to pass on to the Salvation Army, for those who cannot take them to the church.

Monetery donations can be sent to 'The Salvation Army', c/o 3 Town Mill Gardens, Tavistock, PL19 0JG.
