South West Peninsula League division one east Okehampton Argyle 1 Exmouth Town 2 VISITORS Exmouth Town, who hold third position in the league, gave Argyle a bit of a run around in the early stages of this encounter. Exmouth forced several corners, but the goal came from open play on 15 minutes when their winger got in behind the Argyle defence and crossed low for an easy opener from close range. Argyle enjoyed a good period of possession mid- way through the first half and put together a superb move involving Robbie Miller, Steve Williams and Adam Mortimer; Mortimer pulled wide and sent in a good cross for Matthew Sanders to score from close range, levelling the score on 25 minutes. Exmouth went ahead once again on 40 minutes when they won the ball in the middle of the park and opened Argyle up for their No 10 to finish well from the edge of the box. At this point Argyle needed the half-time whistle to have a breather and regroup, as they looked a bit out of sorts and ragged. The second half continued with Exmouth enjoying the better of the early possession and forcing several corners without any end product. Argyle's best chance came when Robbie Miller found some space down the Exmouth left flank and fired in a superb cross that Adam Mortimer headed powerfully, but unfortunately for Argyle the Exmouth keeper was in a good position to palm over the crossbar. Exmouth ended the game squandering several clear-cut chances, leaving Argyle needing to pick up a few points from their remaining games. l Argyle are away again on Saurday to Liverton United, with the return game at Simmons Park kickcing off at 6.30pm on Wednesday, April 23.
