Crediton Utd 1

Okehampton Argyle Thirds 4

OKEHAMPTON'S top pitch was in dire straits so the venue was switched to Crediton. But the first half performance was worse than the pitch and Argyle went in at half-time 0-0 having barely strung three passes together.

The second half started better with Crediton scoring a bizarre own goal. Moments later United broke the offside trap and levelled.

Argyle gained the advantage when the keeper failed to hold on to a Jerome Whately effort and Tony Pickering scored from the rebound.

After several free kicks were wasted into the sky, Ian Wilson decided to try his luck and thundered a right foot shot into the bottom of the net.

Argyle's best goal of the game was finished off with a Robbie Sandercock header after a perfect cross from James Callaghan following good flowing football.

This was Argyle's 97th goal of the season and the players have been promised a celebratory drink if or when they make it to 100 on their last game on April 13 away to Sampford Peverell.

Saturday's result makes runners-up spot a strong probability.
