ARGYLE again proved just how unpredictable they can be with this draw against the league leaders.
In an even first half they matched Budleigh in every department with Nicky Drew making some telling passes to Jason Sandford and Nic Pollard, the latter having to come off injured after 20 minutes to be replaced by the young Aaron Bourne.
After this, Argyle struggled to find their passing game. Budleigh started to find space and put them under pressure but failed to force home keeper Richard Bailey to make a save.
Budleigh took the lead when their striker had their only shot on target from close range.
Argyle almost immediately drew level when Adam Mortimer broke clear only to be brought down with a late tackle as he was bearing down on goal. But to Argyle's amazement the referee only gave a free kick and took no action against the defender.
After the break Argyle took control and scored an equaliser early on through Mortimer from close range. They dominated the entire half but could not score the winner. It was a complete change of attitude from last week's poor performance and so nearly took all three points from the leaders.
It show Argyle can mix it with the big boys when they put their minds to it. With Danny Maddax on the bench and Ian King absent Argyle must now put in these kind of performances every week.
Mike Vernon had an exceptional game in midfield, as did Graham Soby in defence.
Argyle do not travel well and now have three games away from home starting with a tough one against Collumpton, kick-off 2.30pm. Players to meet in the car park at 12.45pm.
