Old Suttonians Plymouth 1 Okehampton Argyle 1st 2 OKEHAMPTON took a break from league action to play the first round of the Devon County Premier Cup and after some difficulty went through to the next round. Argyle?s defence of Nathan Mortimore, Mark Burdus and Michael Vernon were supported well by Argyle?s keeper Daniel Malcolm on a very tricky pitch. Old Suttonians played some good football in stages, but when Okehampton got the ball down and played their passing game they got on top of their opponents. Stuart Cann sent in a cross to the back post which was too high for Robbie Miller to make any contact. But Philip Evans anticipated well to race in behind to to get a foot in and open the scoring for Argyle. Old Suttonians equalised within five minutes when they split the Argyle defence, giving Malcolm no chance to save from close range. Argyle replied on 33 minutes when Cann flicked the ball over the Suttonians? defence for Adam Mortimore to pick out Robbie Miller, who finished well from close in, lifting the ball over the keeper. After the interval both sides missed chances and the game became very scrappy, but Argyle battled well to hold on and progress through to the next round. This week Argyle are away to Beer Albion.
