AN architect from West Devon has been short-listed for a prestigious national award, alongside the man responsible for building the Wembley Stadium. Graham Lobb, a Whitchurch resident for more than 20 years, has been nominated for the Housing Design Awards 2006 for his Pinnacle Quay development in Plymouth?s Sutton Harbour. He is the principal of Form Group Design, based in Plymouth, which is recognised nationally for its design work and has won a number of awards. The company has been involved in designs throughout the country during the last 30 years. The awards scheme is the biggest in the country, attracting entries from such people as Norman Foster, architect of Wembley Stadium and London?s Gherkin building. Graham said: ?I am absolutely thrilled this scheme has been short-listed as it is a perfect example of the quality of our work and how the sensitivity of our design work is employed in urban or rural projects.? Form Design Group is one of only 18 companies shortlisted from a national field of 148 entries for the awards. Winners will be announced in London on July 19. The high-profile award is promoted by the office of the Deputy Prime Minister in partnership with the National House Building Council, the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Royal Town Planning Institute.
