THE May bank holiday weekend saw 23 archers and friends from Tavistock travel to Pontivy for the twinning match between the two clubs, the twinning was started back in 1998 by club member Lez James.

They were welcomed at the venue by club president Jean Yves Bouscher and the Mayor of Pontivy, who praised the club for keeping the twinning going..

Les Archers De Pontivy had laid out a challenging 3d course within the grounds of a beautiful school. In the afternoon all archers shot a target round to determine the outcome of this very close fought event.

Congratulations should go to all the juniors who did the club proud by winning medals in all categories.

Lez James from Tavistock Company of Archers said: 'A short but excellent weekend was had by all which resulted in Pontivy winning by 37 points; however, Tavistock I'm sure will win on home ground next year which will be the 15th anniversary so there will plenty of entertainment etc for our French friends when they arrive.'

n EASTER Sunday saw 150 archers from all over the country descended on Mount House School, Tavistock for an open shoot.

Tavistock Company of Archers had set out a testing and challenging course in the grounds of this beautiful piece of Dartmoor. A course enjoyed by all the archers who took part, many of whom had put 'well done' messages on the National Field Archery Society website.

Lez James on behalf of the archers said: 'We are grateful to the headmaster, estates manager and colleagues for all their help in making the day a great success and also to the school bursar Jan Campbell-Wood who volunteered to come along and be our Lady Paramount for the day and present the prizes to all the medal winners.
