POLICE are appealing for information about racist graffiti which has recently appeared in a shelter in Okehampton?s Simmons Park. Sgt Dave Anning said it was unlikely anything less than a prosecution would follow an incident of a deliberately racist nature, even if this was the first brush the offender has had with the law. He said: ?The offender wrote the words in normal handwriting using a marker pen, so he or she has kindly provided us with a sample of their handwriting. ?All we need now is a name to match and we will be in a position to prosecute this person.? Sgt Anning added that the police would do all they could to ensure anyone prosecuted was publicly named upon conviction. Police are appealing for anyone who knows who is responsible for the racist graffiti to come forward and contact them on 08452 777444, quoting log ref JO/05/694.
