THE mayor of Tavistock has appealed to dog walkers to clear up after their dogs, particularly during the restrictions caused by the foot and mouth crisis.
Cllr Judith Williams said: 'We are getting dog dirt all over the place. Will people please take plastic bags with them — we are emptying the poop scoop bins every single day now, we are doing everything we can.'
Cllr Williams also appealed to people to keep away from rural footpaths and leave the warning signs erected by the council alone.
'People are taking the signs down and our works superintendent is replacing them all the time,' she said.
Dogs should be kept on a lead in the Meadows although they may be allowed off the lead on the Pixon Lane side of the river.
