POLICE are renewing their appeal for witnesses after the ATM raid at Hatherleigh, as video footage of the crime is released.
CCTV footage of the raid, in which a forklift truck was used to smash into a cash point at a branch of the NatWest Bank on Saturday February 20, shows the stolen, red Manitou, heavy-duty fork lift truck entering Hatherleigh at approximately 7.55pm on Friday February 19, and parking in the Market Car Park, facing the bank.
It remains there, along with a stolen blue Toyota Hilux 4x4, until it is used as a battering ram to smash the front of the bank and remove the ATM.
Footage is also available of the Toyota leaving Hatherleigh at around 3.35am on the Saturday and was followed by an additional dark coloured vehicle that police believe was also used by the offenders.
Police are trying to fill the gaps between when the vehicles were stolen and the raid took place, particularly with the red fork-lift truck travelling between Bideford, where it was stolen the evening before, and Hatherleigh. The Toyota was stolen from the Crediton area between 2.45pm and 3.15pm on the Thursday.
Police believe these vehicles were parked somewhere in between these times and are asking the public if they recall seeing the vehicles by the roadside or concealed somewhere off-road.
Anyone with information about the raid is asked to contact the police on 08452 777444, quoting incident log 350 of February 20.
