POLICE are appealing for information following a suspected hit and run road traffic collision involving a bicycle in Lifton last Saturday (November 5) at around 7.20pm. 

A 64-year-old male cyclist was found lying in the road with a serious head injury at the junction with Yeat and Darkey Lane in Lifton. He had been travelling towards Lifton, having come from the Polson direction.

The man was taken to Derriford Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

It is suspected that a vehicle had collided with the bike and subsequently failed to stop.

A man was seen to walk from a vehicle stopped in the Yeat junction, walk up to the cyclist, return to his vehicle and then drive off in the direction of Yeat.

Police are appealing for anyone who either witnessed the collision or has any information regarding the identity of the vehicle driver to contact them on 101 quoting police reference 684 051111.
