POLICE are calling for witnesses after vandals went on a spree in Yelverton ? stealing boxes containing newsapapers and magazines, and causing damage to three cars.

The incidents took place in the early hours of last Thursday.

Boxes of newspaper publications delivered outside Plymco and a newsagents were taken.

The vandals then went around the corner into Meavy Lane where they smashed the rear quarter-light window of a Nissan car.

Further along the lane a garage door was forced open and the car inside had its quarter light smashed.

The vandals then reached the junction with Willowby Park where they smashed the passenger window of a Ford car and removed the whole parcel shelf.

They then appear to have moved on to where Meavy Lane becomes Gratton Lane and left the newspaper boxes ? each the size of a milk crate ? and their contents.

A police spokesperson asks anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact Tavistock Police Station.

?There were five incidents. It could be separate people involved but we think it is one group because the trail of events began at the shops and continued down Meavy Lane,? said the spokesperson.
