A WEST Devon music charity is appealing for the return of stolen equipment essential for its work around the county. The Wren Trust's rig was stored in a locked tow-a-van on the Exeter Road Industrial Estate, Okehampton, which was stolen some time between 8pm on Tuesday January 16 and 8am on Thursday January 25. Paul Wilson of the Wren Trust stressed that the equipment was virtually worthless in monetary terms, but that socially and musically it was invaluable. 'We only spent about 25p building it from old piping but it took hours and hours of work. We don't mind if we never see the tow-a-van again, but we really need the rig back,' said Mr Wilson. Mr Wilson said the rig also had sentimental value. 'We've used it over the years for performances and workshops in some of the most deprived areas of Plymouth and Exeter, and without it, Devon bands like Weapons of Sound, who recently launched the Commonwealth Games, would never have got their start in the business,' he said. Anyone with any information about the equipment's whereabouts is asked to call the Wren Trust in confidence on 01837 53754 or to contact the police in Okehampton or Tavistock on 08452 777444.
