THE National Blood Service (NBS) is appealing for donors in Okehampton to come forward and give a lifesaving pint. A blood donation session will be held on Thursday March 1 and Friday March 2 at the Charter Hall. Both sessions will be open from 1pm to 3.15pm and 5pm to 7.15pm. It is hoped that more than 240 donors will attend the sessions. Every day, more than 8,000 donations are needed so that lifesaving operations and treatments like chemotherapy can go ahead. Zoe Sheppard, NBS spokesperson, said: 'It's only thanks to blood donors that lifesaving surgeries and treatments can take place . 'Their commitment to helping others is fantastic and we look forward to seeing new and regular faces at the sessions in Okehampton. 'We always need more people to become blood donors. 'If you haven't given blood for a while or have never given, why not come to one of our sessions in Okehampton? 'In just one hour you'll be making a lifesaving difference to as many as three patients, and get great care from our staff. We'd love to see you.'
