A WEAPON similar to a sickle was used in a robbery at Lifton Autoways on Good Friday. A man wearing a black balaclava, a green army jacket and dark trousers walked into the Texaco service station at about 8.10pm carrying the bladed weapon. He threatened the cashier, a woman in her 50s, and demanded money and tobacco. The man was given the till contents of approximately £90 and some tobacco. He is thought to have left the scene in a vehicle, possibly in the direction of Holsworthy. Anyone who saw a vehicle driving at high speed towards Holsworthy at the relevant time is asked to contact police. The man was described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall, of skinny build with a soft voice. The weapon had a bleached handle and the black balaclava was possibly knitted with a ribbed pattern.
