A NEW table tennis club for the over 55s was last week launched at The Anchorage Centre in Tavistock. The club, supported by a grant from the 5x30 Project and Age Concern England, will bring people together from Tavistock and the surrounding areas. Kate Wright, community activator for the 5x30 Project, said: 'It was great to see so many people arriving for the first session. 'For some people it was their first visit to the Anchorage Centre and already they are looking forward to next week. 'We all enjoyed getting some tips to improve our game from Lorraine Robinson, the coach from Okehampton Table Tennis Club.' Andy Lyle, Tavistock Area Support Services' general manager, said many new friendships had been made and TASS is now looking forward to hosting this new activity at the Anchorage Centre on a weekly basis.
