VOLUNTEERS are needed across West Devon to help run highly successful wildlife activities this summer. Wild Nights Out is run by Devon Discovery, which provides outdoor and residential education for Devon County Council. They are mainly taken up by schools, youth and community groups, but adult groups have also taken part. Volunteers are vital to the successful running of each event and Devon Discovery is currently recruiting for the coming season, which runs from May through to September. There is a volunteer enrolment and induction day on Saturday, February 25 from 10.30am to 2pm at the Dartmoor Training Centre near Princetown. Volunteers do not need any experience as full training is provided. Wild Nights Out is overnight, wildlife camps which offer a unique variety of activities, blending environmental and wildlife encounters with an exciting outdoor experience, closely related to the National Curriculum. Each Wild Night Out lasts about 18 hours when people get immersed in Devon?s spectacular countryside taking part in a variety of activities.
