THE Garden Opera Company is presenting a Mozart opera at Roadford Lake in July ? and crew members are on the lookout for somewhere to stay.
The South West Lakes Trust provides accommodation for the performers and crew each year they visit.
Residents near the lake will accommodate the cast on the night of the performance, but the trust needs to find accommodation, such as a caravan, for five crew members for two nights (July 16 and 17) to enable them to set up the staging and amplifiers early on the day.
Anyone who thinks they may be able to help provide accommodation is asked to contact South West Lakes Trust?s Lisa Appleton on 01837 871565.
The Garden Opera Company this year celebrates its tenth anniversary with a performance of Mozart?s Don Giovanni at Roadford on Saturday, July 17.
Don Giovanni is the most recent of a long line of wonderful productions from what London Metro describes as ?this great little company?.
The villain is Don Giovanni whose relentless pursuit of women proves his undoing in a story of intrigue and passion. Pursued by his lovers and by an entire wedding party, the action comes to an intense climax of gothic proportions when the ghost of the Commendatore is invited to dine ? with disastrous results.
Sung in English, accompanied by an acclaimed chamber ensemble, the production is performed by some of the UK?s leading young professional singers.
Tickets are £19.50 each (non-refundable) and the trust is currently offering ?Buy 10 Get One Free?. Every effort is made to hold the opera outside on the amphitheatre at the lake but in the event of extremely inclement weather it will take place in the big top marquee. Tickets are available on 01837 871565 or from the Lakeside Restaurant at Roadford on opening at the May Bank Holiday weekend. They are also available at Now and Then in Okehampton.
