A STUDENT from Tavistock College piled up the votes in the Youth Parliament election. Antony Butcher, 16, came third and now joins the Young People?s Shadow Executive. He intends to give young people more things to do in Tavistock and make sure their ideas are put forward to create a better environment for them in and out of school. The sixth former, who received 667 votes from the college, has plenty of experience in youth work as he regularly helps out at St Peter?s Junior School in Tavistock. And as vice-chairman he dedicates most of his time working with Tavistock Youth Council. A student from South Molton, Maisie Mansfield, received 286 votes from Tavistock College but was the overall winner and will take up her post as a member of the Youth Parliament. The organisation supports a national group and influences county and national policy. If any young people have issues or ideas they would like to discuss then contact Antony at Tavistock College.
