NOT content with running, driving and camel riding through the Sahara for charity last year, Wendy Gibb of Okehampton now plans to tackle the biggest army assault course in the UK.
Wendy is entering the Military Challenge 2002 at Pirbright in Surrey, with fellow fundraisers Karen and Mark Percival. The trio plan to raise as much cash as they can for Mencap.
Wendy said: 'I'm on a mailing list for Mencap and this came through a week ago, so we said "Yes, we're up for it" — but we've only got four weeks to get ready for it!'
The team will tackle the five kilometre run through 600 acres of Surrey countryside which has never been open to the public before.
But the big challenge is the assault challenge, which includes 25 obstacles spread over a 400 metre course.
'I'm not really sure what to expect — you hear these stories about tunnels filled with water,' said Wendy, who raised almost £2,700 with her Sahara expedition last year.
The team take on their military challenge on May 19. Anyone who would like to sponsor them can contact Wendy Gibb on 01837 54642.
