ON Thursday April 24 West Devon U13 played four other Devon Districts? teams drawn from the best players from all corners of Devon and hosted by Crediton RFC.

This being the first Devon District Festival with two more in years to come after which a full Devon representative side is picked at U16 level.

On this first festival occasion all players in the West Devon team were from Tavistock RFC.

The festival was organised so all teams played each other. After losing to East Devon 15 to 10 in their opening match West Devon suffered losses against a well drilled North Devon side and then a flashy South Devon team.

West Devon, saving their best until last, rallied in the final match to beat South Hams 20 points to 10 capped off with a final individual try by Andrew Smerdon.
