BUCKLAND Abbey near Yelverton was the scene of dancing and music last weekend, as the apple orchards were encouraged to bring forth a bumper crop with a traditional wassail ceremony.

Crowds went to the abbey to watch Border Morris side Lodestone perform, join the singing and to hear the tales from storyteller Steve Manning, while the trees were given cider to drink, and toast was hung in the branches as part of the wassail rites.
