TO BEGIN the Millennium Eve celebrations in Chagford, local harpist Elizabeth Jane Baldry will be performing for an hour in Chagford Church at 7pm.

As well as an unusual and uplifting way to start the evening, the audience will be helping two worthy causes because the entire box office receipts will be going to the European Children's Trust and the Jubilee Play Area fund in Chagford.

Elizabeth Jane Baldry, who lives in Chagford, has appeared on television and radio in the UK and abroad and is best known for her rediscovery of Victorian Fairy Music for harp.

Last year, the Royal Academy of Arts sought her out to perform during their exhibition of Victorian fairy paintings.

Tickets are priced at £4.
