fascinated by the structure of mazes and labyrinths.
?There is a healing and calming quality to walking around something like this and I like the fact they look like a giant fingerprint on the landscape,? she said.
Yvette feels the design is unique to Hatherleigh and something that could not be envisioned anywhere else.
She wants to get people in the community involved in every stage of the creation of the maze.
?I want people to be able to get involved and learn to work with cob and gain new skills,? she said.
A mentor from the Eden Project has just been appointed to give help and advice to Yvette on all aspects of designing and running an attraction.
Yvette said the outer ring would act as an exhibition space, allowing visitors to watch the rings taking shape. It will also promote features of Hatherleigh and the surrounding environment.
The new attraction could feature an audience hall, a café selling local produce, a pond and a gift shop.
The centre of the rings will be designed as an ampitheatre ?which can be used by local musicians and performers.
There will also be lecture space and an information centre, and one group has expressed an interest in showing films within the building.
Yvette said the project was still at an early stage and the more input the better from local people.
She originally came up with the concept of a moorland maze for the edge of Dartmoor four years ago, but following interest after a display at Hatherleigh Festival, Yvette decided to redesign one especially for the town.
A feasibility study into the project is underway and it is hoped it could access funding through the Market and Coastal Towns Initiative.
Yvette would like to encourage people to fill out a questionnaire which is being made available through the Hatherleigh Area Project office.
She said she would also be more than happy to give a talk to any group or organisation in the area who wanted to learn more about the project.
