BUGS and bonfires will make for a memorable Sticklepath Fireshow, on Sunday, November 5. ?The Good, the Guy and the Bugly? is the theme for this year?s Fireshow, which is thought to be the largest community arts event in the South West. Music, puppets, drama, a fabulous stage set and an awesome firework display all make for an amazing spectacle. Maintaining the British tradition, Guy Fawkes still goes up in flames when one lucky crew member sets alight the carefully built and lovingly painted stage. Members of the community of all ages get involved with the show collecting wood, making puppets and masks, building sets, story-writing and many behind the scenes activities which go into making the show an enjoyable and safe event. Every year a new theme is chosen and to build up the excitement it?s kept a secret until the day ? all organisers can say is that this year Guy gets involved with minibeasts. Gates open at 6 pm at the Finch Foundry Field, Sticklepath, near Okehampton, with the show beginning at 7.30 pm. Organisers are expecting up to 3,000 visitors to descend on the small village to witness the event. Visitors are strongly advised to purchase advance tickets for the Fireshow this year. These are available to buy now from The Store in South Zeal, Sticklepath Store, Chastey?s Shoes and Donald?s Menswear, both in Okehampton, until Saturday, November 4. Adult tickets cost £6; child tickets (14 and under) £2, all child ticket holders must be accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets will be available from 6pm on the night from the ticket booth outside Finch Foundry, near the main gate, but there will be a limited number. Limited parking is available in the village. A free shuttle bus will be available for ticket holders from Okehampton, and will be stopping in Fore Street and the Giblands bus stop. The buses will be running every 15 minutes from 6.15pm to 7.15pm before the show, and will be running back into Okehampton after the show. Spectators are reminded that for safety reasons no alcohol or fireworks are allowed on site ? including sparklers. Refreshments are available on site provided by the Okehampton Lions Club. The Sticklepath Fireshow is a not-for-profit organisation, whose objective is to further the creative abilities of all ages of the local community. Organisers are extremely grateful to all the local businesses who support the fireshow in various ways as well as to everyone who attends fundraising events throughout the year.
