Exmouth Amateurs 3 Okehampton Argyle Reserves 3 ARGYLE came out of the starting blocks quickly and soon raced into a two goal lead. Layman supplied the goals which should have laid the platform for Okehampton to go on and win the match. Instead Exmouth somehow managed to claw their way back into the contest. And by the interval they had levelled the scoreline, making it 2-2. The second half started with Amateurs having their best spell of the game, testing Okehampton back four of Ditchburn, Mortimore, Harris and Jones to their limits. Just when it seemed like Argyle had weathered the storm Exmouth scored with a deflected shot which gave them a 3-2 lead. This seemed to spur Okehampton on, and once again Argyle started to dominate the proceedings. Gibbs and Vernon were outstanding in midfield and the fine efforts of Hampson and Hiscock on the flanks made sure Argyle were not behind for very long. Soon Okehampton had drawn level, when a cross from the right was turned into his own goal by their centre back, giving Argyle the equaliser they deserved. With plenty of time left in the match, Okehampton pushed forward looking for the winner. Leyman, Shaw and Pengelly had half chances to win the game but Exmouth somehow managed to survive Argyle?s onslaught to salvage a 3-3 draw. This week away to Beacon Knights.
