SIXTEEN-year-old Amanda Cole from Tavistock has qualified to compete in one of the British Show Jumping Association?s major junior events at the end of the month.

The teenager, who won a first prize at the Blue Chip Championships last year, is this time competing in four events with three ponies.

Amanda has qualified for the prestigious Kitt Series which will involve around 50 of the country?s top junior riders and takes place over several days in Solihull.

Hundreds of young hopefuls entered the challenge several months ago and various qualifying rounds have been held around the country.

Amanda won the national Pony of the Year competition last year and was runner-up in the BEIB Junior British Novice Championships, which saw more than 100 qualifiers compete.

She competes most weekends and has been successful both on the local and national circuit. Her aim is to qualify for the Royal Show and the Horse of the Year Show.

Amanda has also been invited to the Leicester Show in May which is open to the elite of young British showjumpers.
