South West Peninsula League Division 1 East Okehampton Argyle 3 Alphington 3 EARLIER in the season when these two teams met Okehampton were unlucky not to come away with three points when leading 2-0. Late in the game Alphington came back to score two late goals and share the points. Alphington started this game with purpose and went ahead with a ball over the top of the Argyle defence. With the keeper caught in two minds the Alphington player was quick to make up his min d and lobbed the ball over him and into the empty net. With the game flowing from end to end and both sides looking like they could score at any time it was Argyle who levelled the score with a tidy goal when Steve Williams played in Adam Mortimer to finish from close range on 25 minutes. Argyle were forced to make an early substitution on 35 minutes when Mortimer limped off and was replaced by Steve Kinsey. Argyle did create a good opening when Williams found himself in on goal shooting straight at the keeper from close range. Good early pressure from Okehampton at the start of the second half pinned their opponents back and forced them into some desperate defending with goalmouth scrambles and several early corners with no reward. It was Alphington who took the lead on 48 minutes when a weak headed attempt was fumbled and the ball ended up in the Argyle net. Argyle were not behind for long and equalised on 50 minutes when a good through ball by Matt Saunders found Philip Evans and he made no mistake when cutting in from the right hand side and beating the keeper on the far post. Within a couple of minutes Argyle took the lead and this time it was Steve Kinsey who showed close control, taking the ball wide and cutting it back across the area for Willliams to touch in from close range. Just when it looked like Argyle were going to take all three points they conceded a sloppy goal on 82 minutes, when the ball was again nodded down in the area and not dealt with properly, allowing their opponents to poke the ball in from close range to share the points.
