THE Alpha course returns to Okehampton next week and will be led by the Rev Chris Bourne and Brenda Bourne, assisted by Roger Thorne. The course will run on Wednesday evenings, beginning Wednesday, February 2, The Alpha course explores the Christian faith and is of particular benefit to those wanting to investigate Christianity, to new Christians, to newcomers to the church, and to those who want to brush up on the basics. The course also suits those who know nothing about Christianity and would like to join a group of people in a similar position. The course starts with a basic meal, then a talk is provided, followed by an informal discussion. As well as running local Alpha Courses, Chris Bourne has also assisted in many of the Alpha Courses held at Dartmoor Prison. l The marriage course is again being held in Okehampton. This is a continual course aimed at all married couples, whether married for just a few weeks or for 40 years. It runs over a series of eight sessions and provides an opportunity for couples to spend time together and look at important issues in their relationship. The Rev Mike Davies, the marriage course advisor for Devon and Cornwall said, ?I think this is a great course as at no stage do you discuss any of your issues with anyone else, it is fun, and everyone can learn something. ?The course is designed for all marriages not just those that may be struggling.?
