Shakespeare 2

THE Lambs turned in another good performance against a very competitive Shakespeare side.

The home team dominated for long periods, but with the visiting goalkeeper in superb form, the Lambs had to work hard to ensure a comfortable victory.

The Shakespeare defence held firm until the 18th minute when Ryan Honey finished off a fine move with a tap in from four yards.

The home side continued to put the visitors under pressure and it was no surprise when the Lambs increased their lead, when new signing John Wyatt scored with an unstoppable shot from 18 yards, after taking a superb pass from Dave Hallett. The same player added his second after finishing off another fine move in the 28th minute to make it 3-0 at the interval. Shakespeare rallied and gave a much better perfornance in the second half.

A mistake by Dave Hallett allowed the visitors to reduce the arrears 10 minutes into the second period.

The goal lifted the visitors spirits and they had an inspiring 10 minutes when they reduced the deficit to a single goal.

The Lambs responded well and added further goals through Ryan Honey and Ben Davies to make the score comfortable. Dan Pethick hit the bar with a thunderbolt, and a Ben Davies header flew inches over the bar.

The only thing that will no doubt cause the manager concern is the two soft goals that the Lambs conceded.
