WALKERS looking for some company or a new route to take can join in a series of summer walks starting tomorrow (Friday). The walks, organised by OCRA, will go over generally easy routes, last around two hours, and walk leaders will be looking for and talking about points of interest along the way for a social and informative walk. Walks will be led by a qualified Dartmoor guide, fully trained in first aid. Dogs are welcome if kept under control, and walkers are asked to dress appropriately subject to the weather. The first walk, the 'Water and Woodland Walk', leaves the Pavilion in the Park on Friday, June 13. Meldon's industrial past and present will be the focus of a walk on Friday, June 20 setting off from Meldon Reservoir Car Park. Friday, June 27 will see a walk leave Brennamor Common Car Park in Belstone, opposite the post office for a 'Moorland and Maidens' walk, with a 'Walrus and the Frog' walk leaving from the car park on Friday, July 4. The last walk of the series, entitled 'Castle Legend and Double Waters Walk', starts at the Pavilion in the Park on Friday, July 11. All walks start at 10am. Walks cost £5 each or £18 for all five walks. Turn up at the location stated or call Tom on 01837 53575 for more information.
