SOUTH Tawton celebrated the 750th anniversary of its first recorded rector and vicar with a medieval fayre and hog roast at the parish church on Saturday, June 9 and was blessd with a fine day.
Stallholders came dressed in a variety of medieval costumes (pictured) to add an authentic flavour. The pig for the hog roast was kindly donated by Lovaton Farm and provided added flavour to the day!
The medieval Church House returned to its original function, selling real ales under the auspices of the Old Tom Cobley Inn, Spreyton.
Entertainment was provided by South Tawton Primary School infants with a selection of country dances, juggling by Paul Selwood and 'medieval' harpist Chloe Clifford and colleagues.
The event raised a welcome £1,100, providing a significant boost to the £70,000 needed for urgent roof repairs to the Grade 1 listed parish church.
