LIFTON looks set to get its new sports pavilion, after West Devon Borough Council's planning committee gave the project conditional approval.
The parish council intends to put the building on the recreation ground south of the village, where the existing pavilion stands, with access from Leat Road.
The new pavilion will have two changing rooms, shower rooms, toilets, an officials' room, store, kitchen and club room.
There have been no objections, but the Environment Agency has pointed out that the site is within the River Lyd floodplain. The parish council has therefore been asked to look at ways of raising the structure by a metre in order to allow flood water to flow under it.
