WITH Olympic anticipation reaching a climax this weekend, there's an opportunity to enjoy the inaugural Drogo Games, being held at historic Castle Drogo this weekend.

These games, however, are not for top athletes and will consist of fun and wacky events for all the family.

Take on the cream tea challenge, by making a cream tea as quickly as possible while wearing a driving hat, goggles and gloves like Mr Drewe, the castle's former owner, might have worn. Have a go at the gardener's gallop and steer a barrow round the slalom course against the clock. Take part in the Tweed time trials and see who can get dressed up in a stylish tweed suit in the fastest time. Or you could even try your hand at Mr Drewe's discus, the tea bag toss or the old favourite, welly wanging!

Bronze, silver and gold medals will be awarded to the top three competitors in each event each day and one person will be crowned the champion of the Drogo Games at the end of the weekend. On offer to event winners is a family pass to the World War II weekend at Castle Drogo in September.

The Drogo Games will take place between 11am and 5pm this Saturday and Sunday. For information call 01647 433306. Normal admission charges apply.
