THE Tamar Passenger Ferry has begun its season of taking people up and down the scenic route of the river.
The new season will see the ferry travel from Calstock to Cotehele until the beginning of October.
Charlotte Dancer from the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team said: 'Travelling by boat along the river is one of the best ways to enjoy the landscape of the Tamar Valley — you get a completely different perspective from the river.'
The journey from Calstock to Cotehele takes around 15 minutes. A return journey by ferry, or walk through the woods, back to Calstock will leave plenty of time to look around the village or enjoy a cream tea.
The ferry also stops at Ferry Farm near Bere Alston, which links to scenic walks in the area.
Single fares to Cotehele or Calstock are £2 for children, £3 for adults. To travel to Ferry Farm costs 50p for children and £1 for adults.
Copies of the new free ferry timetable are available locally, or contact the Tamar Valley AONB team on 01822 835030, email [email protected]">[email protected] or visit the website at http://www.tamarvalley.org.uk">www.tamarvalley.org.uk
