CHILDREN and parents from Highampton Pre School enjoyed a morning out at the Dartmoor Railway last Thursday, accompanied by some special fellow passengers.

Father Christmas and his elves visited the children and gave them juice and presents as the train travelled through the ice-white Devon countryside between Okehampton and Sampford Courtenay. As ever when Santa's around, Rudolph was not far away — in fact, he was driving the train with a little help from a penguin friend!

The Dartmoor Railway's Santa Specials are hugely popular, and have been running on weekends throughout December. The final opportunity to take a journey with Father Christmas is this weekend (December 18 and 19). After Christmas, Mince Pie specials depart from Okehampton and Sampford Courtenay regularly between December 27 and 30.
