THE days of tall ship sailing will be relived in an evening of entertainment by the Tavy Tars.

The Bere peninsula?s own group of sea shanty singers ? formed more than a year ago to help launch the Tamar and Tavy Gig Club ? will present an evening of shanties, ballads with a nautical flavour and other entertainment. Joining them will be other local artists, including harp maker and player Tim Hampson.

Seating will be at tables so the audience ? the passengers on the voyage ? can enjoy light food which will be provided as part of the admission. But passengers should bring their own grog or other drinks.

The Tavy Tars have made regular appearances at acoustic music nights at the Olde Plough and the Rising Sun.

The event will take place in Bere Ferrers Church Hall on Friday and Saturday, November 5 and 6, at 7.30pm. Tickets priced £5.50 are available from the Lanterna in Bere Ferrers, 01822 840380, and proceeds will go to the RNLI.
