A GARDEN at Lewdown is opening to the public this year for the first time under the National Gardens Scheme. Alder at Lewdown, owned by Bob and Anne Westlake, will be open on May 18 from 10am to 5pm. The large garden has been created over the last 20 years with shrubs and herbaceous areas and views over the landscaped valley. There are woodland walks and a four-acre lake in the former quarry. The bluebell wood is a particular feature in May and the garden will be open again on May 28 and June 25 raising money for charity. Private visits are also welcome. Contact 01566 783909.
