A GENTLEMAN living two and half miles from Okehampton phoned the BBC Radio Devon interactive lunchtime programme to say it has taken him an hour to reach the centre of Okehampton last Friday morning.

He went on to say that he can get to Exeter to shop much quicker and asked could not the authorities do something about the traffic problem in the town?

Nothing new here but, it confirms serious problems for the town if people go on air to report and highlight a situation like this. The gentleman said something to the effect that 'traffic must flow'. A strong point made there.

It does seem to people living locally and to visitors that the councils, West Devon Borough Council and Devon County Council are hell-bent on destroying Okehampton between them.
