VISITORS to RAF Harrowbeer, Yelverton's world war two airfield, will be able to view the inside of the air-raid shelter next weekend.

Over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16, people will be able to see inside the air-raid shelter in the dispersal bay that the RAF Harrowbeer Interest Group (HIG) have been busy restoring.

The shelter had been sealed for more than 50 years until the group opened it in time for the 70th anniversary celebrations in August.

HIG member Stephen Fryer said: 'We have been asked when we were going to open it again as many people were away for, or missed, the August event, and haven't seen inside yet.'

HIG members will be on hand both days from 11am to 5pm to show visitors around, and in conjunction with this, Michael Hayes will also have the airfield museum in Knightstone Tea Rooms open over the same weekend.
